Painting Engineer – Assistant Service Engineer Level 2 (All shifts: Early, Late & Nights)
We have a great opportunity to join our engineer team in our Selhurst Depot.
As a painting engineer you will be responsible for carrying out and coordinating routine maintenance & repairs in line with the grade and current maintenance plan requirements as directed by your Production Leader.
Responsibilities
* Prepare surface by cleaning, sanding, scraping and priming
* Mix paints accurately to the required specifications for each vehicle
* Apply paint, topcoats, varnishes and other finishes primarily using a roller but also including brushing and spraying techniques
* Repair and spray components in a spray booth
* Conduct inspections to ensure product meets standards, troubleshooting and resolving any issues relating
* Maintain a clean, organised work environment and carry out basic routine maintenance of spray booths and L.E.V systems
* Comply with safety systems and procedures at all times
* Update maintenance records within company systems
* Carry out non‑maintenance related activities (e.g. crane, scissor lift, etc.) as directed by your Production Leader and where competent to do so
* Carry out all other duties where trained and competent to do so
Qualifications
* Must be able to achieve ASE2 vehicle builder competency
* Minimum of two and a half years of relevant painter experience
* Ability to meet the requirements of a job‑specific medical
* Ability to meet the competency requirements for safety and task‑specific training
* Familiar with (or able, with training, to become familiar with) rolling stock maintained or repaired by GTR
* Willingness to learn new skills appropriate to the role
* Proficiency in surface preparations and mixing
* Positive and professional attitude with good working relationships
* Ability to effectively solve problems in a safe and effective manner
