Summer Placement – Engineering
Join Leonardo's Summer Placement Programme in Electronic Warfare (EW) and Future Combat Air (FCA) lines of business. This nine‑week placement starts on 29 June 2026 and will be based at Capability Green, Luton.
Program Overview
* Develop products for manned and unmanned aircraft platforms, including airborne sensors, protection, countermeasures and integrated mission systems.
* Work across multidisciplinary teams, gaining experience across the product life‑cycle.
* Receive coaching and support from subject‑matter experts.
* Successful placements may lead to a Graduate Development Programme offer.
Responsibilities
* Engage in tasks across Software, Systems, Hardware, Firmware, Microwave or Antenna Engineering.
* Support real projects by applying academic knowledge practically.
* Design, test, qualify and support technology across product range.
* Deliver small packages of work on time, cost and quality targets.
* Collaborate across disciplines to solve problems and share knowledge.
* Develop an understanding of the EW domain and relevant technologies.
* Complete tasks to a high standard following processes and procedures.
* Seek and use mentorship to grow engineering skills.
Qualifications
* Predicted 2:2 grade in a relevant degree discipline.
* Preferred degree disciplines: Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or other STEM subjects.
Competencies
* Excellent written and verbal communication.
* Technical problem‑solving ability.
* Computer literacy, including MS Office.
* Experience with MATLAB/Simulink (beneficial).
* Strong passion for engineering and science.

Security Clearance
Pre‑employment screening in line with BPSS. National Security Vetting may apply, possibly including SC clearance.
