Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our excellent team on ward 10. We are a 24 bedded ward specialising in diabetes's medicine, with lots of learning and development opportunities.


Responsibilities

* Work as part of the multidisciplinary team delivering care to patients with support and supervision provided by a registered health care professional.
* Undertake personal care activities and tasks as delegated by a registered health care professional, in accordance with the HEIW All Wales Guidelines for Delegation.
* Ensure the registered health care professional is regularly updated on the patient’s/client’s condition and improvement/deterioration.
* Maintain high standards of cleanliness in the healthcare setting and appropriate storage of stock items.
* Deliver role in accordance with Health Board values and the Code of Conduct for HCSW’s in Wales.

Full time/Part time hours available. Out of Hours Enhancements and staff benefits available.

Main Duties of the Job

Assist the registered nurse/practitioner to deliver a high standard of holistic patient care, ensuring that the patients’ dignity and equality is maintained at all times.

Ensure the principles set out in the fundamentals of care are incorporated into daily practice to ensure high quality service for patients and clients. To perform duties within the plan of care delegated by a qualified practitioner, only for which he/she has the relevant training and assessment.

Assist patients with dietary and hydration needs and support with personal hygiene requirements. Maintain high standards of cleanliness and follow infection prevention guidelines.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Person Specification


Qualifications and Knowledge


Essential Criteria

* Level 2 in care or ability to undertake a period of induction and on the job training to include theoretical knowledge of care and a range of work-related procedures, for example completion of a competency based workbook equivalent to Level 2 Vocational Qualification.


Desirable Criteria

* Level 2 Vocational Qualification in relevant health care related subject.


Experience


Essential Criteria

* Experience of working as part of a team.


Desirable Criteria

* Previous experience working with people in a caring capacity.

Essential Criteria

* Good communication skills - verbal and written, with the ability to convey information clearly and sensitively.
* Ability to keep calm in stressful situations.
* Ability to demonstrate a caring and compassionate approach.
* Organisational skills, with the ability to plan and prioritise own workload efficiently.


Desirable Criteria

* Welsh Language Skills are desirable levels 1 to 5 in understanding, speaking, reading, and writing in Welsh.
