Legal Reporter Position
If you have been called to the bar or are a qualified solicitor and are looking for a change of pace, you might be interested in the opportunity to become a valued law reporter. Our client is a prestigious legal publisher with an international readership, seeking a law reporter to attend hearings and record notes on ground-breaking judgments, summaries, and rulings.
You will need to take initiative and liaise confidently with management regarding whether cases are worthy of publishing and the allocation of time and resources. Responsibilities include proofreading, editing, and formatting judgments into the in-house style. You will communicate regularly with judges and court staff to obtain approval for publishing reports.
Essential skills include exceptional written and communication abilities, strong organizational skills to manage time efficiently, meet deadlines, and handle administrative tasks such as archiving cases. A comprehensive understanding of legal judgments and the ability to communicate them concisely in writing are also required. Only candidates who are qualified solicitors or have been called to the bar (pupillage not essential) will be considered.
The role offers flexibility to fulfill duties, including court attendance where necessary. The position also provides excellent pension arrangements.
This opportunity is ideal for someone called to the bar exploring alternative career paths or not currently seeking pupillage.
McKinlay Law aims to contact all successful candidates within 24 hours. Due to high application volume, not all candidates will receive individual responses. If you do not hear from us within 24 hours, your application has been unsuccessful, and your details will not be retained.
