Overview
University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is offering a fantastic opportunity to work as a respiratory Physiotherapist with an interest in long term ventilation. This fixed 12-month maternity cover role involves assessing and treating patients with complex respiratory conditions, prescribing ventilation and assisted cough techniques, and following up in Outpatient clinics, in patients' homes, and other community settings across the Wessex region.

Responsibilities
* Assess and treat patients with complex respiratory conditions in Outpatient clinics and inpatient settings.
* Prescribe ventilation and assisted cough techniques; manage parameters as appropriate.
* Follow up patients in Outpatient clinics, at home, and in community settings across the Wessex region.
* Work with medical, nursing, and physiotherapy teams; contribute to the regional adult home ventilation service.
* Support therapy, nursing, and medical staff with complex respiratory physiotherapy input on acute wards and in the home ventilation service.
* Engage in strategic development of the UHS Therapy service and oversee development of others.
* Engage in research, regular clinical audits, and maintain up-to-date skills to implement evidence-based practice.
* Supervise undergraduate students and provide specialist advice to colleagues.
* Work weekends across medicine and be rostered on the Physiotherapy respiratory on-call and twilight rota across acute wards and/or home ventilation on-call service.
Qualifications and Skills
* Excellent therapeutic clinical skills in treating patients with respiratory conditions.
* Experience using NIV equipment.
* Demonstrable skills in leading clinical audits and clinical trials.
* Experience doing shifts within an acute respiratory on-call service, including intensive care, for both adults and children.
* Clear, expressed desire in your application to work in TRC service.
* Experience in leading others in a clinical environment.
* Desirable: experience as a student supervisor; experience working clinically as a physiotherapist in community and outpatient settings.
