EduTalent Group are proud to be working in close partnership with a wonderful Learning Centre based in East Sussex that provides a flexible, strength-based and neuro-affirming curriculum for autistic learners who have been disengaged from traditional education. The centre delivers small group, creative and consent-based learning with a focus on rebuilding confidence, wellbeing, and enjoyment in learning. As a SEN Teacher, you will lead the delivery of project-based education for two groups of up to 8 learners (Years 5–8 and Years 9–11), using a holistic and trauma-informed approach. You’ll play a central role in supporting learners to re-engage with education, celebrate their neuro-divergence, and thrive socially and academically. You will be supported by at least one Learning Support Assistant, ensuring a staffing ratio of 1:4. Key Responsibilities Build authentic, trusting relationships with neurodivergent learners Plan and deliver creative & inclusive lessons across multiple subjects including English, Maths, Science, Humanities, and Wellbeing Create a consent-based, emotionally safe, and low-demand learning environment Support learners to re-engage with education at their own pace Embed learners' strengths and interests into every session Monitor and assess learner progress in line with EHCP outcomes and personal goals Communicate effectively with parents/carers and contribute to learner reports Support with transitions, admissions, and holistic learner assessments Collaborate closely with a small team of educators and contribute to the development of the centre’s educational approach Requirements The Ideal Candidate Will Have the Following: QTS or QTLS Experience working in settings such as Alternative Provisions/PRU's Experience of working in a mentoring capacity on a 1:1 or small group basis Experience of teaching the UK Primary Curriculum Knowledge of Montessori or project based learning Ability to build authentic, trusting relationships with young people and colleagues A strong understanding of neuro-affirming practices and commitment to inclusive education Belief that it’s the environment and not the child that must adapt for neurodivergent learners to thrive Flexibility, a strong initiative and responsiveness to adjust plans and approaches in the moment Passion for innovative & creative education practices Calm, nurturing presence when supporting children with high anxiety Ability to identify learning opportunities in varied, non-traditional contexts Excellent planning, organisation, and prioritisation skills Strong problem-solving abilities, both independently and in a team Fluent spoken and written English Benefits What We Offer Competitive salary: £37,000–£42,000 per annum Term-time working only.
