Job Summary:
As a CNC Miller you are responsible for operating the CNC machines and performing offset and programming tool changes as required. You are also responsible for maintaining CNC machines and operating and making precision adjustments for the CNC machines. The CNC Miller ensures the efficient production of high-quality parts according to technical specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
* Set up and operate CNC milling machines, ensuring all components are machined to the required specifications. Load and unload parts from the machine, inspecting each part to ensure quality standards are met. Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of CNC milling machines.
* Create and edit CNC programs using CAD/CAM software. Modify existing programs for efficiency and to accommodate new designs. Verify program accuracy by running simulations and making necessary adjustments.
* Conduct first-off inspections and ongoing quality checks using precision measuring equipment (micrometers, calipers, gauges). Ensure all produced parts comply with technical drawings and quality standards.
* Maintain accurate production records, including job setup sheets, inspection reports, and time tracking. Report any discrepancies or issues to the Head of Engineering promptly.
* Adhere to all health and safety regulations to ensure a safe working environment. Keep the work area clean and organised to prevent accidents and machine downtime.
Job Requirements:
* Proven experience as a CNC Miller or similar role in a manufacturing environment. Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints. Experience with CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, SolidWorks).
* Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail. Ability to troubleshoot and solve mechanical and programming issues. Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
* Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement processes. Familiarity with various materials, including metals (aluminium, titanium, mild steel) and plastics.
* A willingness to work overtime as required.
* Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 25 kg for men and 16kg for women) and stand for extended periods.
Education & Experience
* A minimum of GCSEs or equivalent; vocational qualifications in mechanical engineering or a related field are advantageous.Proven experience as a CNC Miller or similar role in a manufacturing environment for at least 2 years. Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints. Experience with CAD/CAM software is useful
