Summary of Role Purpose:
In the Finance Transformation team, we improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the finance function and generate real insights to help deliver value to the business. Our mission statement is to help our clients create and evolve a digitally enabled, human centric, and integrated finance function.
Our Financial Transformation practice is a priority area for significant and strategic growth. We work with leading public sector clients, focusing on understanding the core issues and opportunities to deliver value-adding change across their finance functions. The key drivers of change for our clients are: technology implementations, an ambition to be more efficient and effective, and a desire to progress along the maturity curve.
We are a team of problem solvers with extensive consulting and industry experience, working together with technology focussed professionals to deliver KPMG Powered Enterprise though a standardised delivery model, which drives professional delivery to clients.
Description of the role:
We are looking to recruit a highly motivated Senior Manager to join our market leading Infrastructure, Government & Healthcare Finance Transformation team. You will play an important part in delivering our growth strategy and will manage project teams to deliver quality client engagements.
Applicants should have prior experience in the public or private sector, as well as in-depth knowledge of finance processes and technology. They should also be able to demonstrate the ability to carry out the following activities:
Engagement delivery:
1. Mobilising and managing large transformation programmes including planning, managing and executing the delivery of engagements
2. Overseeing the writing of client reports and the review and quality assurance of work products
Risk management:
3. Identifying and managing risks, managing engagement assurance, engagement commercials
Business development:
4. Supporting the origination of opportunities for the firm through development of client relationships, and expanding existing engagements to address client challenges beyond the initial scope into further phases of work
5. Building and leveraging both internal and external relationships to support partners and directors to create business development and sales opportunities for the firm including pulling through other parts of the firm where appropriate
People development:
6. Leading large teams, supervising, coaching and reviewing the work performed by peers and colleagues
7. Taking on performance management responsibilities for more junior grades, contributing to annual talent reviews and supporting career progression
Practice development:
8. Leading the development of KPMG specific methodology and intellectual property to further our offerings in the market
Role dimensions:
As a leader within the IGH Finance Transformation team, successful applicants will be responsible for:
9. Managing cross-functional engagement teams including both internal KPMG and external client team members
10. Leading large teams and contributing to formal training, knowledge sharing, and networking activities for the team
11. Supervising, coaching and reviewing the work performed by peers and colleagues
12. Taking on performance management responsibilities for more junior grades, contributing to annual talent reviews and supporting career progression
13. Acting as a mentor to colleagues within the team and in the wider firm, taking responsibility for cultural improvement and living the KPMG values
14. Building and leveraging both internal and external relationships to support partners and directors to create business development and sales opportunities for the firm including pulling through other parts of the firm where appropriate
15. Managing senior client stakeholders
16. Leading the preparation of the Firm’s response to client issued request for proposal (RFPs), including orchestrating multiple services lines to architect a comprehensive response for the client
17. Developing market leading materials and a voice-in-the-market through external blogs and points of view and representing KPMG at external events
18. Ensuring the Firm’s risk management frameworks are implemented appropriately and effectively
19. Supporting partners and directors with internal operational responsibilities for the finance transformation team including revenue planning, resourcing, recruitment, wider team development and community building
The Person:
Successful candidates should have:
20. Strong experience in the finance function of leading public sector or corporate companies, or client facing audit or consulting experience at a professional services firm
21. Have a proven ability to manage and deliver end-to-end transformation programmes in a leading finance function
22. Have deep knowledge and understanding of core finance processes (eg. record to report, procure to pay, order to cash, projects accounting) interdependencies with other processes
23. A working knowledge of at least one of the major ERP technologies (Microsoft Dynamics, SAP, Oracle, WorkDay)
24. Have a deep understanding of the operating model of a finance function including systems, data, processes, controls and governance
25. Have a proven ability to shape deliverables to meet desired client outcomes
26. Be able to articulate the challenges currently facing finance functions including in relation to the future of the finance function and nascent technology
27. Relevant public or private sector experience and knowledge in one or more of the following sub-sectors: Central Government, Local Government, Healthcare, Higher Education, Transport, Defence
Core skills and experience:
28. Be a strong, inclusive people manager who can lead, coach, and develop diverse teams to deliver to deadlines and required quality standards
29. Excellent communicator with the personal skills to build strong and lasting internal and client relationships; and the ability to deliver clear, concise, focused messages to senior finance team members or clients
30. Experience of multiple enterprise software deployments
31. Relevant finance qualification – ACA, CIMA, ACCA, CIPFA or equivalent
32. Knowledge of how Finance processes are enabled within a finance systems landscape (with a focus of one of the major ERP technologies: Microsoft Dynamics, SAP, Oracle, WorkDay)
