What You’ll Do
As a Residential Childcare Officer, you’ll be part of a caring, professional team that places young people at the heart of everything we do.
Your role will include:
* Acting as a positive role model for young people and colleagues, promoting a culture of respect, inclusion, and warmth.
* Providing personalised care that meets each child’s emotional, physical, and educational needs.
* Supporting young people through challenges with empathy, patience, and consistency.
* Contributing to care plans, risk assessments, and behaviour support strategies.
* Ensuring compliance with safeguarding procedures and the Children’s Homes Regulations.
* Supporting the daily running of the home — including activity planning, reporting, and liaising with families and professionals.
* Encouraging young people to take part in activities that build confidence, independence, and joy.
About You
We’re looking for people who care deeply about helping children overcome adversity and find their place in the world.
You’ll bring:
* A genuine love for supporting young people and helping them achieve positive outcomes.
* A calm, empathetic, and trauma-informed approach to care.
* Resilience and emotional intelligence when faced with challenging situations.
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
* A desire to learn and grow within a supportive organisation.
Preferred qualifications and experience:
* Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare (or equivalent), or a willingness to work towards it.
* 1–2 years’ experience working with children or young people in care, education, or support settings.
* Understanding of child protection, safeguarding, and relevant childcare legislation.
* A full UK driving licence (preferred).

Additional Information
* Full enhanced DBS check required.
* Some unsocial hours and weekend work will be expected.
