Role: Highways Delivery Coordinator
Salary: Grade G £33,143 - £36,363 a year (pay award pending)
Location: Stores Road, Derby
Hours: 37 hours a week
Closing Date: 2nd May 2026
Contract Type: Permanent
We are looking for a motivated and experienced Highways Delivery Coordinator to join our busy Highways Maintenance Operations team based in central Derby.
This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive and experienced leader who enjoys working outdoors, solving problems on the ground, and taking pride in delivering high quality services for the local community. You’ll play a key role in keeping Derby’s roads safe, reliable and well maintained.
In this hands on supervisory role, you will plan and oversee and lead daily maintenance activities, coordinate responses to emergencies, and support both in house teams and external contractors to deliver consistently high standards of work. Strong leadership skills, practical highways maintenance experience and a commitment to safety are essential.
We are particularly interested in candidates with knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations, including; New Roads and Street Works Act 1991, Traffic Management Act 2004, Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015, Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and Highways Act 1980.

The Highways Delivery Coordinator leads day to day maintenance activities to keep Derby’s roads safe and well maintained. The role involves planning and overseeing works, coordinating emergency responses and supporting both in house teams and contractors. You’ll ensure high standards of workmanship, uphold safety requirements and help deliver efficient, reliable services for the community. Strong leadership, practical highways experience and sound knowledge of relevant legislation are key to success in this role.
About You
To be successful in this role, you’ll ideally have…
• Experience in highway maintenance, construction, or civil engineering
• Supervisory or team lead experience
• Working knowledge of highway maintenance vehicles, plant and equipment to undertake all aspects of highway maintenance work assigned, including routine and cyclic maintenance activities and civils projects
• IOSH Managing Safely
• Valid full UK driver’s licence
• Strong leadership and team management abilities
• Knowledge of highway maintenance techniques and materials
• Understanding of traffic management and road safety regulations
• Winter Service Professional Certificate/Diploma
• Winter Service Supervisor Certificate
• Ability to read plans, maps, and technical documents & drawings
• Problem solving and decision making under pressure
• Good communication and record keeping skills
• Competence with maintenance equipment and tools
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• First aid at Work
• Experience in a supervisory role
• NRSWA Supervisor
