Charge Nurse / Specialist Perioperative Practitioner Team Leader – a leadership role in a fast‑paced, highly specialised environment that combines clinical expertise with strong leadership to deliver safe, effective person‑centred care.
Duration, Location and Working Pattern
* Based at Institute of Neurological Sciences, Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, G51 4TF.
* Full time, permanent.
* Working Monday to Sunday with flexibility for early/late, weekends and on call.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide clinical leadership, guidance and support to the theatre team to ensure safe and effective patient care.
* Lead and coordinate perioperative activities including assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of care.
* Support the SCN in maintaining clinical standards, policies and quality improvement initiatives.
* Supervise, mentor and develop staff, promoting a positive learning environment and continuous development.
* Manage theatre resources efficiently, including staff allocation and equipment utilisation.
* Participate in audit, service improvement and implementation of best practice within the department.
* Contribute to on‑call and emergency cover, ensuring continuity of high‑quality care.
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job
* Registered Nurse with NMC registration or recognised Operating Department Practitioner qualification.
* Relevant post‑registration experience within a perioperative environment.
* Demonstrated experience across more than one surgical specialty.
* Strong clinical skills including anaesthetic and/or scrub expertise with in‑depth knowledge of theatre practice.
* Proven leadership and people management skills with the ability to supervise and support staff.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills with effective time management.
* Evidence of ongoing professional development and commitment to maintaining high clinical standards.
