Job Description


Your Role: Producer, Wales & Scotland

A rare unique opportunity in Wales to work across some of the UKs leading commercial radio brands.

You will be a dynamic multi-skilled Producer who understands how to create great radio, video and social content; whilst also leaning on your branded content and production experience to expertly craft promos, scripts and sponsorships.

Based in Global’s vibrant Cardiff broadcast centre, you will be an integral part of the team who deliver uniquely regionalised content for our audiences in Scotland & Wales, as well as being plugged into Global’s wider brand teams.


Key Responsibilities

As a Producer at Global, you will:

* On-Air Content and Studio Output: (30%):
You'll have experience of producing live radio shows and be excited to work alongside the Show Producer in Cardiff to help with the continued growth of the daily Heart Wales Drive show. You'll work on sound design for the programme and continually come up with creative ways to enhance audio elements. You'll also cover for the Show Producer in Wales and provide occasional support for Producers working on Heart Scotland.

* Digital & Social Output (30%):
Skilled at video editing and social media, you’ll be responsible for implementing the social media strategy, whilst managing and growing the Heart Wales social accounts. You’ll provide valuable support to the Social & Video Content Producer based in Scotland and lead local output on station websites.

* Branded Content & Creative Solutions (30%):
You’ll be great at the scripting and production of promos trails, sponsorship credits and brand integrations for Global’s radio brands in Scotland & Wales. You will also be responsible for brand approvals and enjoy getting creative in regular brainstorm sessions.

* Cross-team Coordination (10%): Work closely with network programming and central Broadcasting & Content teams in London and support the Managing Editor for Scotland & Wales to keep the Wales schedules up to date.

What Success Looks Like

In your first few months, you’ll have:

* Developed a balanced understanding of the Global brands – in particular Heart.
* Worked alongside the Show Producer to help deliver strong on-air content for Heart Wales.
* Built a solid grasp of key software, including ProTools, and used it to create on-air production elements.
* Worked with the commercial team to help plan and deliver great localised branded content campaigns.
* Grown the Heart Wales socials accounts and regularly be delivering engaging content for our Welsh audience.
* Formed a great working relationship with the B&C team in Scotland & Wales and provided valuable support for the Social & Video Content Producer in Scotland.
* Contributed to creative planning sessions and supported exciting on-air content ideas.


What You’ll Need

* Experience using digital playout systems and audio editing software such as Adobe Audition and ProTools. GSelector skills an advantage.
* Knowledge of wider Adobe Suite and video editing software.
* A proven understanding of the social media landscape, the need to adapt content per platform and the ability to plan shoots to cater for them.
* Strong problem-solving skills, with creative flair and sound editorial judgement.
* A proactive, self-starting approach with strong attention to detail.
* Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills.
* The ability to work under pressure and respond calmly.
* A strong understanding of the Heart brand and its audience.
* Strong collaboration skills and confidence working with a range of teams and stakeholders.
* Experience of working with on-air talent and well-known personalities.
