Job Description:
At M-KOPA, We Finance Progress. Recognized twice by the Financial Times as one of Africa's fastest-growing companies (2022 and 2023) and by TIME100 as one of the Most Influential Companies in the World 2023, we've served over 3 million customers, unlocking $1 billion in credit for the unbanked across Africa. We empower our people through diverse development programs, coaching, and on-the-job training, supporting individual growth with family-friendly policies, well-being focus, and flexibility. Join us in shaping the future of M-KOPA.
M-KOPA's Threat Intelligence team, within the Security department, identifies and assesses threats against our products, business, and personnel. The team has developed a custom analysis platform instead of standard tools, such as Recorded Futures, using Azure Microservices to provide real-time information to Fraud, Application Security, and Management teams.
Your role involves acting as a developer, primarily in Python, with elements of Threat Hunting. This includes building automated tools for internet threat detection and identifying new threats to monitor. It is a fully remote role within UTC -1 to UTC +3, reporting to the Senior Threat Intelligence Researcher, and collaborating with Application Security and Global Fraud teams to develop intelligence-gathering systems.
You're excited about this opportunity because:
* You will create, build, and enhance a bespoke Threat Intelligence platform, exceeding the capabilities of most Threat Intelligence teams.
* You will identify new threats against M-KOPA, our products, and employees.
* You will learn about development best practices, Continuous Integration, and Continuous Deployment processes.
* You will gain knowledge of the latest hardware hacking, web application hacking, and malware attacks.
* You will analyze cyber threat alerts from various sources and communicate findings to relevant teams.
* You will perform trend analysis, assist with cybersecurity requirements, and establish reporting mechanisms.
* You will develop and deliver threat alerts, notifications, case studies, and after-action reports.
* You will coordinate and communicate across multiple stakeholder groups.
* You will monitor external data sources for cyber threats and provide mitigation recommendations.
* You will review intelligence reports, collection plans, and programs.
We're excited about you because you have experience with:
* Moderate experience in Python programming or development.
* Experience with Microsoft Azure or cloud microservice architectures.
* Familiarity with modern development practices, CI/CD.
* Knowledge of Threat Intelligence principles.
* Windows and Linux command line skills.
Benefits - What's in it for you!
* Participation in Application and Information Security Red Teaming operations.
* Opportunities for international travel to conferences and training.
* Annual Learning and Development Fund: $1,200 allowance for learning and development, pro-rated in the first year.
* Home Office Setup: Up to $1,000 for IT equipment after signing the offer.
* On-site retreats and trips to operational markets.
