Overview
Are you passionate about supporting children with Autism? Axcis Education is expanding our team of ASD specialist Teaching Assistants to support pupils in mainstream Secondary schools across Manchester and Greater Manchester. Working in line with the SEND Code of Practice (2015).
Responsibilities
* Use evidence-based resources such as Boxall profile or Zones of Regulation
* Help implement and review behaviour support plans
* Use accredited de‑escalation strategies, including Team Teach
* Be aware of strategies such as emotion coaching and social stories
* Support emotional regulation and develop pupils’ social skills
* Work closely with class teachers, resource manager and external professionals
* Create a safe and supportive environment where pupils can thrive
* Help track progress and contribute to Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
You’ll work in an inclusive and specialist setting that supports students aged 11–19, with an EHCP and a diagnosis of Autism (ASD).
Candidate requirements
* Have at least two years’ experience working with children with ASD needs or behaviour that challenges
* Have knowledge of trauma-informed approaches (ACE’S) and emotional regulation strategies
* Have a calm, consistent and compassionate approach
* Can form strong relationships and build trust
* Have a background in education, mental health, youth work, or social care, residential care
