Role Overview
As the consultant psychiatrist in older adult psychiatry, you will take part in the multi‑disciplinary management of community referrals for those with both functional and organic illness. You'll provide consultant input into the OPMH multi‑disciplinary team in Weymouth and Portland and have dedicated time to help shape the strategic development within the care group across Dorset.
The service offers strong peer support and robust cross‑cover arrangements. You will have full‑time secretarial cover and sufficient administrative time to facilitate the smooth running of outpatient clinics and timely written communication with clinicians, referrers and patients. A designated office in Weymouth will also be provided.
Responsibilities include:
* Managing community referrals and providing consultant input to the multidisciplinary team.
* Participating in the county‑wide on‑call rota (approximately 1 in 21 frequency).
* Attending the Medical Advisory Committee meetings bi‑monthly and providing medical advice.
* Encouraging and supporting development of appropriate management and leadership skills.
You will also be offered the opportunity to participate in the county‑wide consultant on‑call rota, which attracts a 3% on‑call availability supplement plus 0.75 APA per week.
