About The Role
Please note, this is a part-time role (22.2 hours, 0.6 FTE). Leeds City College are seeking a part-time Pastoral Coach who has the personality, skills and knowledge to support and nurture our student body, with a view to enrich the learning experience and promote positive outcomes.
The School of Travel, Food, and Drink offers a wide range of study programmes and apprenticeship opportunities to both 16-18 and 19+ learners who are looking to pursue a career in Hospitality, Catering, Aviation and Travel/Tourism. Our course offers range from Entry Level 3, for learners who may be applying to college with limited previous experience of qualifications through to Level 3 Diploma programmes of study which enable students to progress to higher education or supervisory positions within industry.
What You Will Do
* Plan and deliver pastoral lessons within the PDBA framework.
* Support the Curriculum, Maths and English team to ensure attendance is a priority
* Give academic support, extra encouragement, mentoring and pastoral support to all students inside and outside of the classroom.
* Undertake the role of a designated safeguarding officer (following training).
* Work with teaching staff to support the achievement of excellent outcomes for each student.
* Support teaching staff where individual student behaviour within a group is impacting on the learning of the group as a whole.
* Assist in the induction of the students into the curriculum and college life.
* Develop a 1:1 relationship with individual students, meeting regularly to review progress against the action plan.
* Support staff on visits and off-site activities.
About You
* Experience of working with students, particularly age 16+.
* Experience of working with schools, parents, and external support agencies.
* Have a good knowledge of behaviour management techniques.
* Experience of student-centred approaches to learning and different styles.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Good organisational and administrative skills.
* Able to work positively & effectively as a member of a team and on own initiative.
