Position
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Principal Clinical Psychologist based at HMP Kilmarnock.
What You Will Do
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Principal Clinical Psychologist to join the Mental Health Team within His Majesty’s Prison (HMP) Kilmarnock to develop a comprehensive psychological therapies provision to this prison population. Based within HMP Kilmarnock, the Senior Principal Clinical Psychologist will be part of the Prison Healthcare Team working in partnership with the Scottish Prison Service (SPS). You will work alongside colleagues including a Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist and other medical staff, Mental Health Nurses, Addiction Workers, Self-Help Workers, Pharmacy, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy and other in-reach services. The role of the Prison Healthcare Service is to provide a range of most effective and efficient clinical services and interventions that meet prisoner healthcare needs during their stay in prison.
You will have responsibility for delivering specialist clinical psychology services to offenders by working as a member of HMP Kilmarnock’s mental health care service. You will be involved in delivering highly specialist Psychology assessment (including neuropsychological testing) and therapy to adults within the prison setting presenting with a wide range of complex mental health difficulties. You will be integral to psychological therapies service development within the prison, and will contribute to teaching, training and psychological supervision of the wider staff group.

Knowledge, Training And/or Experience Required To Do The Job
We would welcome interest from qualified Clinical Psychologists who have relevant experience for this post. For example, those who have experience of working in settings and/or specialties where you have developed transferable skills applicable to supporting adults presenting with substance use, trauma and associated complex psychological disorders.
The applicant must be HCPC registered.
An excellent relocation package of up to £12,000 is available depending on eligibility.
Although you will be based within HMP Kilmarnock, some travel to other services across Ayrshire may be required, so a driving licence is desirable.
