Customer Compliance Group (CCG) is a business area that ensures that HMRC successfully collects the full and correct amount of money due from UK taxpayers, investigates offences against the tax system and takes action to identify and mitigate potential threats. The compliance work we carry out across CCG is vital in making sure HMRC is collecting the money that pays for the UK’s public services and giving financial support to people.
About PaCT.
COD PaCT’s remit is to support the business in building professionalism and operational capability; and through that to enhance the experience of our customers and build their trust in HMRC. We are responsible for ensuring that CCG’s Compliance Professional Standards are consistently implemented and outcomes measured.
PaCT is dedicated to understanding and enhancing the compliance customer journey. Additionally, we oversee the One-to-Many function and have joint responsibility with Legal Group to deliver on the outcomes of the Strategic Litigation Project.
Job description
PaCT instils high levels of professionalism and customer experience across CCG. This role will be driven by data to assess areas of strength and improvement across the business. You will be working with stakeholders across the business, identifying and assuring data from a range of sources to enable us to provide compelling narratives on our performance against the Compliance Professional Standards. You will work to deliver a quality service to stakeholders across CCG, providing regular and bespoke performance narratives and reports.
The successful candidate will be interrogating and analysing various data sets and instilling an ethos of continuous improvement in how we collect, assure and present data. You will be part of the team’s effort to drive up performance by identifying trends and themes and advising relevant stakeholders.
Key duties will include:
* Using Power BI to ingest data from various sources, produce data models and flows and generate high quality visuals, capable of being cut to directorate/ sub directorate level.
* Extract and analyse data sets from a variety of sources; including identifying trends in the data and formulating proposals to improve delivery.
* Working with team colleagues to assure the accuracy/quality of all the data contained in the Hubs and take action to remedy or escalate issues.
* Working with Customer Support & Resolution (CSR) operationally facing teams to build effective systems to collect their data and visualise it.
* Produce bespoke reports using a variety of data sources for COD SLT and wider stakeholders.
* Deal with ad-hoc requests to often urgent deadlines.
* Assist, and where appropriate mentor, coach and develop colleagues; particularly upskilling on Power BI and it's use to drive performance.
* Maintain engagement with key stakeholders of all grades to ensure that data is received in a timely and accurate format.
* Support the wider team priorities, with flexibility to work across the team as and when required.
Essential Criteria:
* Must be proficient in building and using Microsoft products including Excel and Power Bi.
* Previous experience of ingesting multiple complex data sources, building data flows, and generating visuals.
* Experience of using data and metrics to drive improvement, feeding into high level narratives that align with business performance and objectives.
* Experience of successfully developing data solutions, tailored to the varying needs of customers.
* The ability to identify and develop automation techniques to provide high quality, streamlined and cost-effective data analysis.
* Strong organisational skills with a proven ability and resilience to work to tight and sometimes conflicting deadlines.
* Good drafting and verbal communication skills to positively influence senior stakeholders.
Desirable Criteria:
* Good awareness of GDPR and security considerations in respect of data handling.
* Experience building, using, and maintaining Power Apps, Power Automate and SharePoint Lists.
