Salary: £27,713 – £30,250 (depending on qualifications and experience)
Bonus: £2,000 Wee Bonus for candidates with SEN experience*
Hours: 40 hours per week, Term Time only - Start time:, Finish times: Mon–Wed, Thu 5pm, Fri 4pm

We are delighted to be supporting a brand-new specialist secondary school in Chaldon, Surrey, in September 2025. The school will cater for young people aged 11–16 who require support with socialmunication, emotional regulation and sensory processing, typically associated with Autism. With small class sizes, high levels of classroom support, and a dedicated multidisciplinary intervention team, our students will have every opportunity to thrive. This is an exciting opportunity to join the school at the very start of its journey and help shape its inclusive ethos.
Your new role
The Assistant SENDCo will work closely with the SENDCo to promote an inclusive approach to SEN across the school. You will also support staff, students, and families to ensure the best possible oues for learners.
Key Duties
1. Recording & AssessmentEstablish systems for identifying, reviewing and monitoring needsChair Annual Reviews for EHCPsKeep parents informed through meetings and parents’ evenings
2. LeadershipSupport SENDCo in delivering training for teachers and support staffShare best practice in SEN across the schoolSupport transition arrangements and integration into provisionLiaise with external professionals and disseminate reports to staffStay up to date with developments in SEN and feedback to SLTAttend CPD and conferences, sharing learning with colleaguesModel good practice in teaching pupils with SEN, includingplex needs
3. Other ResponsibilitiesUndertake reasonable tasks requested by the HeadteacherContribute to duties and extracurricular activities
What you'll need to succeed
4. SENCO/Access Arrangement Assessor qualifications preferred (or willingness to work towards)
5. GCSE Maths & English minimum Grade 4 (or equivalent)
6. Teaching qualification desirable (required for National Award in SEND Coordination)
7. Relevant and recent experience of working with pupils with SEN
8. Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice
9. Understanding of safeguarding principles and child protection procedures
