Housing Options Advisor
Solihull Community Housing is seeking a dedicated and resilient Housing Options Advisor to join our front-line team on a 9-month fixed-term contract with potential for extension. This role will have you as the face of our service, providing high-quality advice and early intervention to individuals and families at risk of homelessness.
Responsibilities
* Work in line with Homelessness legislation and ensure smooth running of the Temporary Accommodation function, which may include voids visits, working with providers to source temporary accommodation.
* Hybrid work: required to work from the office a minimum of three days a week.
* First-point advice: handle enquiries via telephone, digital platforms, and in person to resolve housing issues at first contact.
* Initial assessments: determine eligibility and immediate needs for those presenting as homeless.
* Prevention & mediation: use negotiation skills to mediate with landlords and families to help customers sustain their current tenancies.
* Personalised support: empower customers to use self-help systems and assist the wider team in securing suitable temporary accommodation.
* Maintain accurate, professional case notes in line with the Data Protection Act and GDPR.
Qualifications
* Experience in high-pressure, front-line customer service and proficiency in temporary accommodation management.
* Able to communicate with empathy and professionalism, even in crisis situations.
* Non-judgemental, resilient, and committed to equality and diversity.
* Strong IT skills and a valid driving licence (with access to a vehicle/alternative travel across the borough).
