The Opportunity
An opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Review and Acceptance Engineer to join a leading engineering consultancy supporting a major UK nuclear new?build project. This is a permanent, site?based role where you will play a key part in ensuring mechanical engineering solutions meet safety, quality and regulatory expectations.

Your duties and responsibilities will be
Review and assess mechanical engineering queries raised by construction contractors across equipment packages and building scopes.
Evaluate non?conformances, change proposals and technical exemptions, ensuring issues are resolved robustly and compliantly.
Provide engineering oversight to confirm nuclear safety, environmental and regulatory obligations are fully satisfied.
Challenge design and installation solutions where necessary to ensure alignment with overall project and safety strategy.
Liaise closely with designers, site specialists and subject?matter experts to support sound technical decisions.
Work collaboratively with construction, quality and project teams to close out open technical actions.
Identify and assess technical risks, supporting mitigation actions where required.
Coordinate engineering input from external stakeholders and partner organisations.
Maintain effective working relationships with responsible designers and embedded engineering teams.
Report progress, risks and issues clearly to the Engineering Lead.
You will have the following qualifications and experience
Degree?qualified (or equivalent) in mechanical engineering or a related discipline.
Proven experience applying mechanical engineering judgement within a regulated, safety?critical environment.
Strong understanding of construction and installation activities on large, complex sites.
Working knowledge of UK health & safety legislation, including CDM and nuclear site requirements.
Background or exposure to welding engineering and associated quality considerations.
