Job Overview We are seeking a BIM Technician to join our team, primarily focusing on 3D modelling of mechanical systems, including pipework, plumbing, and spools, for construction and fabrication. The candidate should have a basic understanding of mechanical drawings and be proficient in Autodesk Revit, cloud-based collaboration, and shop drawing production. Responsibilities and Duties 1. 3D Modelling & Coordination - Develop detailed 3D mechanical models using Revit, ensuring accuracy and compliance with project specifications. - Model pipework, plumbing, spools, and mechanical services based on 2D drawings, mark-ups, and schematics. - Work with Revit Families, Parametric Components, and System Families to create intelligent models. - Ensure proper clash detection and coordination using Navisworks or similar tools. - Maintain cloud-based Revit models for real-time collaboration with other disciplines. 2. Shop Drawings & Documentation - Generate accurate and detailed shop drawings for fabrication and installation purposes. - Extract 2D drawings from Revit models, including sections, details, and schedules. - Create spool drawings for prefabrication, ensuring alignment with site requirements. - Maintain and update the model database, title blocks, and drawing revisions. 3. Cloud-Based Collaboration & Data Management - Work with BIM 360, Autodesk Construction Cloud, or similar platforms for model sharing and collaboration. - Manage and upload models to cloud environments, ensuring version control. - Coordinate with engineers, site teams, and other stakeholders to implement design changes effectively. 4. Model Accuracy & Compliance - Follow industry standards and company BIM protocols to maintain consistency. - Ensure compliance with MEP design guidelines, manufacturer specifications, and project requirements. - Perform quality checks on models before issuing for coordination or construction. Qualifications/ Skills/ Experience Essential Skills & Experience: - Proficiency in Revit for MEP modelling. - Basic understanding of mechanical drawings, plumbing layouts, and spooling techniques. - Experience in shop drawing creation, annotation, and detailing. - Familiarity with Revit cloud-based collaboration (BIM 360). - Strong attention to detail. Preferred Skills: - Experience with Navisworks for clash detection. - Understanding of fabrication processes in mechanical and plumbing systems. - Knowledge of Revit families and parametric components. - Ability to interpret point cloud data or 360 for as-built modelling (desirable). Qualifications: - Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or BIM-related fields. - Relevant BIM or Revit certifications are an advantage.
