Job Description Junior Partner – Corporate & Commercial Location: Northampton Salary: £70,000 - £90,000 Profit Share Step Into Partnership & Lead a Thriving Corporate Team Our client, a well-established and commercially-focused legal practice in Northamptonshire, is seeking an exceptional Junior Partner to join their corporate and commercial team in Northampton. This is a rare opportunity for an ambitious senior lawyer with 7 years' PQE to take the next step in their career, assume partnership responsibilities, and play a pivotal role in the strategic growth of the department. About the Role As Junior Partner, you'll manage a high-quality caseload of corporate and commercial matters whilst taking on strategic leadership responsibilities within the team. You'll work alongside 2 experienced Partners, 1 Associate, and 3 Solicitors, providing technical leadership, business development direction, and mentoring to develop the next generation of corporate lawyers. Your Responsibilities Will Include High-Value Corporate Work – Leading on complex M&A transactions, corporate restructuring, and commercial deals Strategic Leadership – Contributing to departmental strategy, business planning, and growth initiatives Team Development – Mentoring and supervising associates and solicitors to build a high-performing team Business Development – Driving new client acquisition, developing existing relationships, and identifying growth opportunities Client Relationship Management – Acting as trusted advisor to key corporate and commercial clients Practice Management – Contributing to firm-wide decision-making and strategic direction Your Caseload Will Include Mergers & Acquisitions – Leading complex business sales, acquisitions, and corporate restructuring Commercial Contracts – High-value commercial agreements, joint ventures, and strategic partnerships Corporate Finance – Advising on investment rounds, shareholder arrangements, and corporate governance Corporate Restructuring – Group reorganisations, demergers, and corporate simplification Commercial Property – Supporting corporate clients with significant property transactions Cross-Departmental Collaboration – Working with employment, property, and litigation teams on multi-disciplinary matters What We're Looking For Essential Requirements: Qualified Solicitor with a current practising certificate 7 years' PQE in corporate and commercial law within a UK legal practice Proven track record managing complex, high-value corporate transactions independently Strong leadership credentials – experience supervising, mentoring, and developing legal teams Demonstrable business development success – track record of winning new clients and growing relationships Commercial acumen – ability to provide strategic, business-focused legal advice Partnership mindset – entrepreneurial approach with commitment to firm growth and profitability Desirable: Existing client following or portable caseload Experience in practice management or departmental leadership Track record working with SMEs, owner-managed businesses, or corporate clients Complementary expertise in employment law, IP, or commercial property What's on Offer Competitive Package: £70,000 - £90,000 Profit Share Genuine Partnership Opportunity: Equity partnership potential with clear progression pathway Strategic Influence: Shape the future direction of the corporate team and wider firm Established Platform: Build upon a strong client base and regional reputation Autonomy & Responsibility: Full partnership-level autonomy and decision-making authority Collaborative Leadership: Work alongside experienced partners in a supportive environment Business Development Support: Marketing, BD resources, and firm-wide support for growth initiatives Professional Development: Ongoing CPD, networking opportunities, and leadership development Modern Facilities: Based in well-equipped Northampton offices with excellent connectivity Location & Working Arrangements Location: Northampton, Northamptonshire Office-Based Role: Servicing clients across the region and nationally Working Hours: Full-time partnership role with flexibility to manage your own diary Why This Opportunity Stands Out This is a genuine partnership opportunity with a firm that values entrepreneurial thinking, collaborative leadership, and long-term growth.
