Costs Lawyer - Cardiff
TSR Legal are currently supporting a well-regarded multi-office law firm based in Cardiff, who are looking to recruit either a non-qualified or qualified Cost Lawyer. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing legal costs in civil, commercial, and personal injury cases and will be expected to provide expert advice on costs-related matters, draft bills of costs, and represent clients in costs negotiations and hearings.
Key Responsibilities:
* Drafting and preparing detailed bills of costs and cost budgets
* Advising on costs implications and strategy in legal proceedings.
* Conducting costs negotiations and settlements with opposing parties.
* Representing clients in detailed assessment hearings and other cost-related proceedings.
* Managing costs recovery and ensuring compliance with legal cost procedures.
* Providing guidance on cost budgeting and financial planning in litigation.
* Keeping up to date with relevant costs law,s and procedural changes.
* Liaising with solicitors, barristers, and clients to achieve the best possible outcomes.
Key Requirements:
* Qualified Cost Lawyeror extensive experience in costs law.
* Strong understanding of the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) relating to costs.
* Experience in drafting bills of costs and costs budgets.
* Excellent negotiation and advocacy skills.
* Ability to work independently and manage multiple cases efficiently.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Proficiency in legal costing software and Microsoft Office applications.
