The Role
Seeking a dynamic, action‑oriented leader to head a cross‑functional squad dedicated to driving data change and building a scalable, secure, and future‑proof suite of data solutions. This role is pivotal in modernising data infrastructure, enabling enterprise analytics, and migrating existing work into a modern, usable data platform environment.
Crucially, you will act as the AWS Technical Lead, bringing hands‑on experience in leading, coaching, and guiding people utilizing the AWS platform. This is an immediate start opportunity for an organized problem‑solver who can think creatively about data delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Squad Leadership: Develop and lead a dedicated internal squad of 4 to 7 subject matter experts spanning data engineering, modelling, and digital analytics.
- Platform Delivery: Deliver a comprehensive backlog of items needed to design and build data platform capabilities, effectively turning business needs into a clear product roadmap.
- Best Practice & Advisory: Act as a recognized specialist and adviser, guiding the team and the wider community on industry‑recognised data standards and best practices.
- Supplier Management: Work seamlessly with key external outsource partners and third‑party administrators to design future services and ensure delivery as one integrated team.
- Strategic Alignment: Maintain a holistic picture of current and future platform needs , ensuring all deliverables complement wider directorate and organisational priorities.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate fluidly with executive leadership regarding matters of significant importance to the organisation.
Role Requirements
Technical Leadership & Experience
- Immediate Availability: You must be available to start in the role immediately.
- AWS Expertise: Proven experience leading people and managing engineering initiatives within an AWS platform environment.
- Data Delivery: Strong knowledge and proven experience in building and delivering modern data/data platform solutions.
- Team Coaching: Deep experience coaching technical subject matter experts and leading complex, multidisciplinary projects that require delegating and reviewing technical outputs.
- Supplier & Stakeholder Management: A proven track record of managing internal/external supplier relationships and influencing senior stakeholders to accept new concepts or proposals.
