We are currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Business Support Officer to join our busy North Team within the Care Finance Assessment Team. The role is based at County Hall, Preston, however, you may currently work from home. Flexible working requests may be considered for the successful candidate. home working, compressed hours. Office cover is required on a rota basis between 8:45am and 5:00pm.
About the Role:
You will play a key role in supporting the Team Leader and Financial Assessment Officers who deliver financial assessments, arranging telephone appointments and visits for the assessment officers.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Schedule telephone appointments and home visits for Financial Assessment Officers
2. Handle duty phone calls and emails, and gather relevant information
3. Collating information and details required so that a financial assessment can be completed
4. Provide general advice and guidance to service users and colleagues
5. Maintain accurate records and ensure tasks are completed to deadlines
6. Communicate sensitively and professionally with vulnerable individuals and their families
7. Collaborate with internal departments and external agencies to resolve queries and signpost appropriately
8. Attend training, team briefings, and meetings across the county as required
What We are Looking For:

9. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
10. Has knowledge of using specialised systems
11. An effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills and empathy
12. Excellent telephone manner and the ability to remain calm and professional under pressure are essential.
13. Experienced in administrative work, ideally within a social care or finance setting
14. Able to follow processes while contributing ideas for service improvement
15. Organised, self-motivated, and capable of working independently to meet targets
16. Is a team player who can work effectively as part of a team
17. Experience of working with vulnerable adults or in a social care finance environment is desirable but not essential.
