Project Engineer at National Grid Electricity Distribution (NGED)

Job Introduction
We have two opportunities for Project Engineers to join our Major Projects – East Midlands Capital Delivery Team – based in Hinckley and Grantham. The team is responsible for delivering major construction, reinforcement, and new connection schemes across the 33kV and 132kV network.
Main Responsibilities
* The management and control of projects work involving plant, overhead and underground systems, including:
o Project Safety, ensuring strict compliance with Construction and Design Management (CDM) 2015 regulations
o Managing multiple projects to a recognised project management standard (APM) including forecasting and delivering construction and financial milestones
o Project Related Network Risk
o Procurement and Contractor Management
o SAP duties
* Understanding the requirements and commissioning of newly installed plant and protection schemes onto the electricity network
Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate should demonstrate practical knowledge of protection and control systems, including commissioning of such equipment, and familiarity with plant specifications. Candidates must possess a Level 3 City & Guilds 2339 qualification, or be willing to undertake an HNC Electrical and Electronic Engineering or Foundation Degree. Evidence of qualification certificates is required prior to appointment.
They should be self‑motivated, adaptable, work autonomously, perform well under pressure, maintain high standards of quality and safety, and be mobile within the network services area. Standby duties may be required in accordance with a pre‑determined rota.
