Job Overview
As an Assistant Retail Manager, you will support the Retail Manager in driving sales, delivering excellent customer service and maintaining high standards of stock presentation and store cleanliness across the Dunmurry store.
Responsibilities
* Assist the Retail Manager in maximizing sales by maintaining high display standards, ensuring proper stock rotation and securing realistic pricing on donated items.
* Stay current with merchandising trends and competition to keep the store’s layout fresh.
* Maximize Gift Aid income and oversee the proper display and administration of bought‑in goods, ensuring minimal stock loss.
* Engage customers, coach volunteers and staff to conduct positive conversations with every customer, encourage add‑donation purchases and promote the loyalty scheme.
* Drive repeat custom, stock donation, volunteer recruitment and community involvement.
* Recruit and manage volunteers, ensuring all staff and volunteers follow Marie Curie procedures and guidelines.
* In the Retail Manager’s absence, take responsibility for overall store management and operation.
Key Criteria
* Previous retail experience, preferably in fashion/clothing.
* Experience with cash handling and financial management procedures (including completion of sales records).
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a customer‑first attitude and the ability to communicate with tact and discretion.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Good organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload, balancing competing demands.
* Understanding of health and safety procedures in a retail.
* Experience in managing and motivating volunteers is desirable.

Vacancy type: 12 month fixed‑term contract, part‑time
Location: Dunmurry Store
Salary: £17,777.76 per annum + benefits
Hours per week: 28 per week
