Occupational Therapist Therapy Services

Salary: £32,061 - £42,839 (Career Grade) plus £3k Market Supplement

Location: Rutland - Oakham

37 hours per week. Flexible and agile working.

Permanent position

Rutland County Council is recruiting an Occupational Therapist to join our Adults and Health Directorate. If you enjoy practical, person-centred work that helps people live safely and independently at home, wed love to hear from you.

About you

* Qualified Occupational Therapist with HCPC registration.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Understanding of safeguarding principles and the Care Act 2014.
* Ability to travel across Rutland to attend visits.
* Comfortable working in a hybrid pattern, including being office-based for a minimum of 2 days per week for full-time staff (often used to focus on visits for efficient working).
* Able to attend mandatory meetings and training at the Oakham site.
* Able to identify and prioritise urgent work, responding appropriately to reduce immediate risks to clients.
* Proactive approach to problem-solving and a willingness to try new ways of workingwe can support you to build the role-specific skills; the most important factor is having the right aptitude.
* Able to progress cases in a timely and proportionate way, depending on complexity.

About the role

* Youll work within our Adult Social Care team, supporting people with minor and major adaptations, equipment provision, and moving and handling assessments.
* Using a strengths-based approach, youll complete holistic assessments and work with individuals to agree plans that meet assessed needs and improve outcomes.
* Youll supervise Occupational Therapy Assistants, providing support and guidance, and offer profession-specific input to Social Work colleagues.
* When required, youll support the triage of new referrals via our therapy duty provision.
* Our work is predominantly adults-based (around 95%), with some childrens adaptations; if childrens adaptations are new to you, we will support you to build the required confidence and skills.
* Youll contribute to our falls prevention work with care homes across Rutland.
* We offer hybrid working, balancing office, home working and visits to support effective ways of working.
* We provide a 7-day service to support hospital discharges; youll be asked to work up to one Saturday in every four weeks.

* £3,000 market supplement (subject to contract conditions).
* Monthly CPD opportunities (a 50/50 mix of adult social care CPD and occupational therapy-specific CPD).

* Guaranteed maximum caseload and therapist-led case allocation.

The successful applicant for this post will be subject to an enhanced check by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). The costs for the DBS are paid by us.
