Overview
Are you passionate about Marine Ecology? The Principal Marine Ecologist will work in one of our offices across the UK & Ireland, with a flexible hybrid model. You will support marine and aquatic ecologists and marine EIA specialists on national and international projects, including offshore wind, interconnectors, habitat restoration, flood defence, and coastal developments.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide technical marine ecological and consenting advice across a broad range of projects, including full EIA or DCO cycles.
* Deliver marine ecology impact assessments (ES chapters, HRA, MCZ, WFD) and support licence & permitting applications.
* Ensure deliverables meet high quality standards and comply with rigorous quality management procedures.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (acoustics, coastal processes, water science, archaeology, EIA).
* Contribute to business development: develop technical proposals, marketing, and client liaison.
* Manage projects: resources, budgets, progress reporting; procure and manage subcontractors.
* Mentor and develop marine ecology team members.
Qualifications
* Comprehensive marine ecological expertise with experience preparing and reviewing specialist technical chapters and impact assessments (EIA, HRA, MCZ, WFD).
* Deep understanding of marine consenting and licensing regimes across the UK, including regulatory bodies.
* Ability to apply advanced scientific practices to diverse marine projects.
* Experience coordinating teams, line management, and mentoring junior staff.
* Business development experience: tenders, client presentations.
