Overview
Head of Department - Computer Science & Business Studies. Location: Bury. Contract: Permanent, Full Time. Start Date: September 2025 (or earlier by agreement). Salary: MPS/UPS + TLR (depending on experience).
Responsibilities
* Provide strategic leadership across the Computer Science and Business Studies department.
* Lead and support a team of teachers to ensure high standards of teaching, learning, and student outcomes.
* Design and deliver a robust, modern, and inspiring curriculum that prepares students for the digital and business world.
* Monitor and analyse performance data to identify trends, inform planning, and drive improvement.
* Foster a positive, inclusive, and aspirational learning environment for students and staff.
* Contribute to the wider school leadership team and whole-school improvement priorities.
What We're Looking For
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a strong subject background in Computer Science, Business Studies, or both.
* Proven track record of delivering strong academic outcomes at secondary level.
* Leadership experience or readiness to step into a middle leadership role.
* Up-to-date knowledge of national curriculum developments and assessment strategies.
* Strong communication, organisational, and team-building skills.
* A passion for equipping students with the digital and commercial skills needed for modern careers.
