Junior PCB Engineer / Technician
Location: Manchester
Salary: Up to £30k + Excellent Benefits (25 days holiday, 8% pension, healthcare, life insurance)
Overview
An established R&D engineering company is looking for a Junior PCB Engineer / Technician to join their electronics support team. You'll work alongside an experienced engineer to support the design, build and testing of lab‑based and custom‑built electronics and instrumentation systems. This is a fantastic role for someone with practical electronics skills, looking to grow into a specialist role.
What You'll Be Doing
* Hands‑on work with PCB layout, soldering, diagnostics, and rework
* Building and modifying wiring harnesses, switch boxes, and signal units
* Supporting instrumentation setup for force sensors, test rigs, and motors
* Carrying out routine calibrations and keeping test records up to date
* Reading and working from schematics and circuit diagrams
* Supporting a small, highly skilled team working on exciting engineering challenges
You'll Need
* HNC/HND, NVQ Level 3 or apprenticeship in Electronics or similar
* Experience with PCB fault‑finding and repair
* Confidence using lab tools such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and soldering stations
* Some knowledge or willingness to learn about instrumentation and calibration
* A methodical and safety‑first approach
* Genuinely enthusiastic about electronics tinkering/hobby projects a big plus!
