Job Description
We are seeking a Senior Mechatronics Engineer to join the Aero Innovation team within the Motorsports Aerodynamic Department at General Motors. This onsite role requires reporting to Concord, NC, on a full-time basis. The successful candidate will develop mechatronic systems to enhance aerodynamics development for motorsport and high-performance vehicles, working closely with a multidisciplinary team to design, develop, and optimize engineering solutions that improve our competitiveness and innovation in motorsports and production vehicles.
What You’ll Do
1. Design, develop, and integrate complex mechatronic systems for automotive and aerodynamic testing applications.
2. Create detailed system architectures and specifications to meet product requirements.
3. Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers to develop innovative solutions.
4. Coordinate with external suppliers to evaluate and select components and technologies.
5. Conduct system-level testing, analysis, and debugging to ensure functionality and reliability.
6. Oversee delivery of prototypes and production solutions, including mechanical design, PCB layout, firmware/software integration, and testing.
7. Prepare and present technical reports, specifications, and stakeholder presentations.
Qualifications
Required: Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering; 5+ years of relevant experience; proficiency in CAD software (Siemens NX, CATIA); experience with embedded systems, microcontrollers, programming (C, C++, Python); hands-on experience with sensors, actuators, control systems, power electronics; strong organizational and communication skills. Relocation benefits may be available.
Preferred: Master’s degree; experience in automotive, motorsports, or aerodynamics testing; familiarity with MATLAB/Simulink; expert in CAD and mechanical design; deep knowledge of control systems.
