We have a great opportunity to join us as an Employee Relations Specialist. You’ll drive excellence across the business in all key areas of Employee Relations. Our intention is to support and influence the employee experience and business performance by helping create a management team that has the right skills to lead and support their people. As a specialist, you will partner Business Leaders in our Head Office and Operations functions. Your stakeholders will be line managers, Heads of and HR Business Partners and you’ll take ownership of a caseload of high-level employee relations issues across a range of topics. You’ll provide professional guidance and advice to managers, dealing with a case load of approximately 40 – 50 cases across our Hub, Depot & Delivery Networks.

1. Own and manage an end-to-end case load covering all employee relationships topics such as Disciplinary, Grievance, Capability appeals and absence usually c40 cases at any one time.
2. Provide regular progress reports to key stakeholders and produce regular case load reports as part of our wider HR dashboard.
3. Coach line managers in managing formal meetings and attend as note taker and support where required.
4. Seek proactive opportunities to improve line manager capability in dealing with ER issues with the freedom to create and implement interventions that are specific and relevant to various business areas.
5. Providing accurate information on policy, procedure, company T&Cs on high level cases with a sound understanding of key dates and processes within the wider HR function
6. Contribute to all ACAS queries and ET1 claims by providing accurate data, actions and outcomes of each case. Working closely with the ER Manager and Legal to proactively manage all potential claims.
7. Proactively keep yourself up to date with changes in employment law and best practice and make recommendations for policy/ process improvements.

We are looking for:
8. CIPD qualification or working towards.
9. Experience of ER caseload management, Employment Law, policy changes and the impact on the business.
10. Experience of facilitating conflict resolution (mediation) and coaching managers.
11. Experience of working in a unionised environment.
12. Ability to develop and present all ER training modules, ability to adapt communication style to suit specific audience groups.
13. Experience of using HR information systems to access, input and compile relevant data as well as interpret data to provide accurate advice and recommendations across all business areas.
14. Experience of handling complex ER issues, giving consistent timely advice across all business areas
15. Experience of business improvement e.g. reviewing activities and cases to understand and share key learnings with the business.
