Job Title: Paralegal (highly experienced)
Department: Private Client (wills and probate)
Reporting to: Head of Private Client
Hours: Full time
The role:
Working within the Private Client team in our Grays office
Responsibilities:
* Managing a caseload of private client matters including Wills, LPA’s and Probate
* Taking initial instructions and preparing the necessary documents (Wills, LPA and Grant of Representation)
* Attending home visits
* Preparing client care letters and terms of business
* Dealing with the administration of the estate and then applying for Letters of Administration/Grant of Probate
* Completing IHT205, IHT400, Renunciation and Power reserved forms – with knowledge of Inheritance tax
* Using Statement of Truth for proving validity of Wills
* Administration of estates including; bank accounts and discharging debts and liabilities, preparing estate and distribution accounts
* Administration of trust properties
* Liaising with Solicitors and external organisations
* Compliance will and maintaining knowledge of SRA standards and relevant legislation
Requirements:
* Minimum 3 years’ experience as paralegal dealing with wills and probate matters
* Ability to interact with Clients and staff effectively and professionally
* Knowledge of current relevant legislation and regulations covering private client matters
* Strong ability to work effectively and prioritise with competing demands
* Proven ability to work independently
* High standard of work presentation and attention to detail
* Desire to develop knowledge and skills
* Identify and resolve or escalate issues in a timely manner
