Reporting to the Operations Manager, your main responsibility will be to effectively manage a highly productive depot team to deliver a consistent output of quality, right first-time machines and ancillaries to meet hire and sales demands from our broad customer base. As an experienced manager you will be competent at organising workload to meet target dates through your team of engineering, administrative and HGV driving staff alongside preferred external partners. You will ensure the depot operates to an extremely high standard whilst continuously ensuring health and safety standards are strictly adhered to.Key ResponsibilitiesThe Depot Manager will manage fleet repairs and turnaround to meet product availability, hire and sales demands.Working closely with the remote hire desk team you will ensure that machines and ancillaries are repaired, specified and tested to the highest standard to meet transport datesEnsure that sufficient available products from across the range are prepared and available for hireOrganise workload, distribute tasks to the workshop team and plan third part supplier works to meet equipment deadlinesRemain abreast of all activities under your control, escalating where and when needed.Working with your Depot Administrator, you will ensure that the depot holds adequate stocks, materials and consumables to support fleet repairs, local service requirements and remote satellite stores demands.Accurate monthly asset management control is essential; you will achieve this with diligent and punctual booking in of returned equipmentManage local recruitment, retention, development and training activities to ensure that the site operates with an optimum, safe, well skilled and motivated workforceEnsure our HGV transport fleet is presentable and well maintained to support first rate transport efficiencyMaintain compliance with ISO standards across all areas is essentialEnsure the depot's yard, workshop, office, welfare areas and training facilities are maintained to provide a safe and compliant workplace for our workforceWork closely with H&S management and ensure compliance with H&SAWA and all best practice.Thoroughly investigate and compile reports on accidents and near misses to prevent recurrenceWhen considered necessary by management you may be required to perform any duties considered within your skill and competence to assist the smooth running of the business including depot cover support.What We're Looking ForMinimum C&G, EITB or NVQ3 Engineering qualificationHands on experience of heavy plant maintenance/repair used within the housebuilding and construction industriesGood multi-task organiser, capable of working under own initiativeProven history in employee leadership and development skillsOutgoing personality, flexible in approach, team playerExperience of working with sales and hire desk teamsComfortable handling recruitment, mentoring and employee feedback proceduresKnowledge and experience of asset control, HGV planning and logisticsUnderstands HSE structure and Quality Compliance (IOSH qualification preferred)Working knowledge of LOLER and PUWER regulationsGood MS office skills, comfortable learning to use Vp operating systemsValid car driving licence and telehandler NPORs certificate (preferred)What We Can Offer YouSalary sacrifice pension25 days holiday (increases with service), plus bank holidays & 1 extra day to be taken in the month of your birthdayAdditional holiday purchase schemeFree Tool HireLife Assurance cover 3x salaryShare save schemeEye care vouchersRecommend a friend schemeLearning & Development – commitment to upskilling and developing our people, structured in house training available alongside external training where requiredCycle to work schemeLong service recognitionMy Vp discounts – a variety of discounts and rewards on thousands of well-known brandsDiscounts on HP productsEE mobile contract discount offersGym discountsHealth Shield (discounted premiums on health care cash plan)Employee Assistance ProgrammeVirtual GP ServiceWill Writing & Funeral Concierge ServiceRegit Assist 24/7 accident helpline – free joiningA Little Bit About UsUK Forks, a division of Vp plc, is a renowned leader in the UK's material handling industry.
