Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Transport Manager to oversee our logistics and supply chain operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership and organisational skills, ensuring efficient transport management while maintaining high standards of customer service. This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders.
Must hold a current O licence 1. Planning and Coordination
· Develop transport routes for HGV / cranes
· Co-ordinate with councils / police forces
2. Compliance and Safety
· Ensure compliance with transport laws, regulations, and licensing (e.g., driver hours, vehicle inspections, tachos ).
· Maintain FORS accreditation and CPC courses
· Maintain health and safety standards for drivers, passengers, and cargo.
· Keep up-to-date with legislation changes affecting transport
3. Fleet and Vehicle Management
· Assist workshop manager with maintenance, servicing, and repair of vehicles.
· Monitor fuel usage and manage vehicle efficiency.
· Ensure vehicles are roadworthy and legally compliant (ie tax, insurance ,tolls, dart congestion)
· Ensure tacho records are kept up to date
· Ensure Vehicle files are kept up to date
· 4. Financial and Resource Management
· Invoice checking
· Fuel costs, prices level monitoring
· Control transport budgets and reduce operational costs.
· Negotiate with suppliers, contractors, and external transport providers.
· Optimize resources to improve efficiency and profitability.
5. People Management
· Recruit, train, and manage drivers and other transport staff.
· Organize training on all levels inc. cranes
· Monitor driver performance and ensure adherence to policies.
· Handle scheduling, shift planning, and resolving staffing issues.
6. Customer Service and Communication
· Ensure reliable, timely delivery of goods or services.
· Resolve customer complaints related to transport delays or damages.
· Maintain effective communication between drivers, warehouse, and management.
7. Technology and Monitoring
· Use transport management systems (TMS) and GPS tracking.
· Monitor performance data (fuel, mileage, delays) to improve operations.
· Introduce innovations for efficiency (e.g., route optimization software).
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: £30,000.00-£60,000.00 per year
