We’re looking for a passionate and technically skilled professional to help drive the growth and adoption of goals-based financial planning across the St. James’s Place Partnership. As part of a small, high-performing team, you’ll provide expert guidance and support on cashflow planning tools including OPAL and Voyant, ensuring Partners have the confidence and capability to deliver exceptional client outcomes. This role is pivotal in enhancing the Partnership’s understanding and application of goals-based planning, shaping how advice is delivered across the business.
What you’ll be doing
In this role, you’ll:
1. Resolve technical queries on OPAL and Voyant, received via mezzanines, email, and Techlink, to agreed service standards.
2. Lead and facilitate training sessions, workshops, and mezzanines at all levels to build technical understanding across the Partnership.
3. Design, produce, and publish engaging goals-based planning content for SJP platforms, including Techlink, SJP House, and the intranet.
4. Promote the benefits of goals-based planning and identify opportunities to increase adoption across the Partnership.
5. Use management information (MI) to help Partners create robust and accurate cashflow forecasts for clients.
6. Continuously improve our service to Partners, demonstrating what ‘excellent and professional’ technical support looks like.
7. Provide mentoring support to the Holistic Planning Adviser and contribute as a subject matter expert to divisional and business-wide projects.
8. Feed user insights into the development of cashflow planning tools, supporting testing and product enhancements.
9. Uphold and promote SJP’s leadership vision, culture, and departmental goals.
Who we’re looking for
We’re seeking an experienced technical planning professional who combines deep financial planning knowledge with a passion for empowering others. You’ll be confident working in a fast-paced environment, handling complex queries, and helping Partners understand how to deliver great outcomes for their clients. Collaboration, communication, and a drive to continuously improve are key to success in this role.
Essential skills and experience:
10. Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills across all levels.
11. Experience creating and delivering technical content or training to diverse audiences
12. Proven ability to analyse complex cases and develop creative, compliant solutions.
13. Broad understanding of the SJP Advice Framework and financial planning processes.
Desirable skills:
14. Diploma in Financial Planning (or equivalent qualification).
15. Strong technical knowledge of cashflow planning tools, particularly OPAL and Voyant.
