We are seeking an experienced Senior Pipeline Engineer (Mechanical) to support the delivery of pipeline engineering work on a 12-month freelance contract, operating Outside IR35. The role will focus on providing high-level mechanical pipeline expertise across design and delivery phases, working closely with multidisciplinary teams and key stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities

Lead and deliver mechanical pipeline engineering activities across assigned projects
*
Produce, review and approve pipeline design deliverables including calculations, specifications and reports
*
Ensure designs comply with relevant codes and standards (e.g. PD 8010, ASME, API, DNV, BS EN)
*
Undertake wall thickness calculations, material selection and stress analysis
*
Provide technical input into route selection, constructability and installation methodologies
*
Participate in HAZID, HAZOP and design review workshops
*
Interface with civil, process, integrity and construction teams
*
Support contractor and vendor technical reviews
*
Provide technical guidance to junior engineers where required
*
Ensure engineering deliverables are produced to programme and quality expectations
Skills & Experience
*
Strong background in mechanical pipeline engineering within oil & gas, energy, utilities or infrastructure sectors
*
Proven experience working in a contract / consultancy environment
*
Solid understanding of pipeline lifecycle engineering from concept through detailed design
*
Ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities
*
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Qualifications
*
Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
*
Chartered Engineer status desirable but not essential
*
Strong working knowledge of UK and international pipeline standards
