About the role
As a Vehicle Technician in one of our workshops, you will mainly repair and maintain the delivery vehicle fleet, ensuring they are safe and roadworthy to VOSA and Partnership standards. You will work with experienced technicians who will provide the tools and support you need, and you will have opportunities to develop your knowledge and progress your career.
At a glance
Salary: Up to £55,000, depending on skills and experience, plus readily available overtime.
Working Hours: Full‑time role, 37.5 hours per week on a 2‑week rota, with working 1 in 4 Saturday mornings at a premium overtime rate.
* Week 1: Monday to Friday – 06:00–14:00
* Week 2: Monday to Friday – 14:00–22:00
Contract type: Permanent.
Location: Leylands RDC.
What you'll be doing
* Work on the HGV fleet and ensure all vehicles are maintained to a safe and roadworthy standard in line with DVSA and Partnership requirements.
* Complete relevant sections of inspections, services and defect sheets in compliance with ‘O’ Licence obligations, administer and report accurately using the fleet management program Key2.
* Apply best practices and current commercial vehicle repair techniques to carry out high‑quality repairs in a cost‑effective manner, ensuring spares and consumables reflect the level of work performed.
Essential Experience & Qualifications
* City and Guilds Level 3 Vehicle Technician or equivalent qualifications.
* Full UK Manual Driving Licence.
* Proven background in commercial vehicle repairs.
* Knowledge of commercial vehicle legislation and roadworthiness.
Desirable Skills
* IRTEC certification.
* LGV C+E Driving Licence.
