What you'll be doing:
This is a data role within the Commercial Pricing and Underwriting department. You will support your team in providing an innovative and effective analytical modelling and pricing platform, using blending and reporting tools such as Alteryx and Tableau, with a focus on in-depth analysis of data and delivery of modelling/pricing recommendations for various commercial disciplines.
The role will be based in either London or Leeds. Our hybrid model offers a 'best of both worlds' approach. When you'll be in the office depends on your role and team, but colleagues spend at least 2 days a week in the office.
What you'll need:
1. Incorporate data into existing and new pipelines from any source/platform suitable for Pricing and Underwriting (P&U) teams.
2. Manage data processes and processing requirements for all key commercial BAU and P&U processes.
3. Assist with planning and assembling requirements for new data sources for modelling and wider P&U activities.
4. Ensure data governance and integrity through process checking.
5. Collaborate with P&U teams to implement structured data and produce quality MI using Alteryx/Tableau.
6. Develop your skills to maximize contribution, including through secondments and rotations.
7. Identify, own, and manage business risks, communicating issues and remedial actions proactively.
8. Plan, manage, and deliver tasks and projects timely, providing insights and recommendations.
9. Support and develop Alteryx data models and Tableau reports.
10. Provide analytical insights to inform business decisions, ensuring robustness of outputs.
11. Engage with external suppliers and internal stakeholders to meet business needs.
12. Share knowledge with peers to improve understanding and impact across the business.
13. Identify process improvements for efficiency and challenge current practices constructively.
14. Develop knowledge of pricing and underwriting systems and industry issues.
15. Ensure compliance with policies, regulations, and risk standards, completing necessary actions.
16. Uphold DLG’s culture and values through appropriate behaviors.
Business requirements:
* Good understanding of General Insurance.
* Excellent data quality principles.
* Strong communication skills, capable of engaging with senior stakeholders.
* Team player with initiative.
Technical requirements:
* At least 3 years’ experience with two or more of the following: Alteryx, Tableau, SQL.
* Relevant data experience in a similar pricing or analytical role is highly desirable.
* Degree or equivalent in a numerically focused discipline.
* Advanced knowledge of ETL and database structures.
Knowledge of R and Python is advantageous.
