The service works with social services, local solicitors, and the Department of Work and Pensions to support vulnerable clients aged 18 years and plus, who are unable to manage their own money and are at risk of abuse.
As a caseworker, you will work with your clients, their families, friends, and care staff to ensure they receive relevant benefits, assist them in managing their budgets and funding their social care needs, always keeping the best interests of the client at the centre of all decisions.
This is a challenging but extremely rewarding role where no two days are the same. Full training will be given, and you will receive direct support and guidance from a Casework Manager.

Job responsibilities
To work within the Money Management team to provide a high-quality service for a caseload of vulnerable clients aged 18 years and over. Using a person-centred approach to support individuals in managing their finances.
Car user and driving license are essential.
The key principle behind this role is for the Caseworker to progress all matters related to a client's case with direct support and guidance from a Casework Manager.
The Casework Manager will maintain responsibility for all casework delivered by the post holder.
The Caseworker will support the team by working with clients and other stakeholders including:
1. Supporting the management of new and existing clients to ensure benefits are maximised, claimed, reviewed, and correct
2. Preparing background work to attend appeals where appropriate
3. Meeting with new clients in the community, working with them and their carers to ensure they can continue with their chosen lifestyle within their individual budget
4. Liaising with Local Authorities, the DWP, and other official agencies in all matters relating to Appointeeships in a timely manner to avoid over or underpayments to the client
5. Ensuring all data is recorded accurately, appropriately, and in a timely manner adhering to GDPR legislation
6. Capturing data for chargeable services
7. Managing and prioritising own tasks
8. Keeping up to date with changes to legislation relating to Appointeeships and benefits
9. Undertaking appropriate training and personal development as required for the role
10. Adhering to all AUKCW policies and procedures
11. Portraying a positive image of the organisation both internally and externally
12. Undertaking other duties as may be reasonably required, consistent with the role's nature and grade

Qualifications
* Demonstrable commitment to professional and personal development
Experience
* Experience of working with or supporting vulnerable people
* Experience of partnership/collaborative working and relationship building
* Knowledge of The Mental Capacity Act 2015 & The Care Act 2014; practical understanding of Safeguarding
Skills and Abilities
* Good computer literacy and working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
* Good numeracy skills and ability to manage a budget
* Clear verbal and written communication skills
* Effective planning and time management skills, including working to tight deadlines and re-prioritising work as needed
* Active listening and empathetic skills to provide person-centred, non-judgmental support
* Ability to input and maintain accurate data records
