Assistant Transport Manager

Our large friendly distribution client in Crick is seeking a proactive, forward thinking individual to assist in overseeing the day to day operation of budgets and performance, customer relationships, compliance and personnel issues relating to staff.
Main tasks :
* Minimise cost to the business by fully utilising all resources within the team.
* Monitor and update the in housesystem ensuring delivery, cost and performance information is up to date.
* Actively working to reach targets and assisting the Transport Manager if targets aren't met
* Support the Transport Manager in ensuring that customer relationships are built on integrity and professionalism.
* Deputise for the Transport Manager in their absence. Attending conference calls, morning meetings and acting as point of contact with the customer
* Complete daily risk assessments of the site.
* Review processes regularly to ensure they are current and follow best practice.
* Monitor the fleet servicing to make sure the depot complies with client servicing requirements
* Managing absence
* Dealing with recruitment
* Training and development of staff
* Disciplinary/Grievance managing the process
* Dealing with defective equipment, and sorting out repairs
* Keep theirIntranet up to date
Person Spec
* GCSE grade C or above in Maths and English
* At least 3 years experience withoperations or planning within logistics
* Good working knowledge of WTD and drivers hours regulations
* Excellent problem solving skills
* Sound IT skills
* Excellent Communication and organisational skills
* Sound Admin experience
* Proactive, postive attitude
* Able to multi task and work to tight deadlines
