Job Title: Interim Director of Development
Location: Hybrid, 1-2x per week in the London office
Salary: £62,000 per annum (FTE: £77,500)
Contract: 1-year fixed term (maternity cover)
Hours: 28 hours per week across 4 days
Are you a strategic and ambitious fundraising leader ready to drive meaningful social change? Women in Prison (WIP), the leading national charity working to end the harm caused to women by the criminal justice system, is seeking an Interim Director of Development to lead their fundraising strategy and champion their bold £5 million campaign to strengthen their vital women’s centres.
This is a pivotal moment to join WIP as they embark on a new five-year strategy, Together in Power, and build voluntary income to reduce reliance on statutory funding. The ideal candidate will bring senior-level experience in fundraising, a deep understanding of trusts, foundations, and major donor engagement, and a passion for feminist, anti-racist leadership.
Key responsibilities:
* Lead WIP’s income strategy with a focus on cultivating high-value philanthropic partnerships and building a robust new major donor pipeline.
* Drive and deliver their flagship £5m campaign to sustain and grow their women’s centres.
* Support and manage a small, expert fundraising team.
* Work closely with their Leadership Board to leverage networks and cultivate new relationships.
* Play a central role in the senior leadership team, modelling feminist, collaborative leadership and contributing to organisation-wide planning and strategy.
They are looking for someone who:
* Has a proven track record in income generation and strategic fundraising.
* Is a confident relationship-builder with experience working with high-level supporters and stakeholders.
* Brings strong leadership and people development skills.
* Shares WIP’s values of care, dignity, and compassion, and their commitment to anti-racism, feminism and social justice.
