Position: Widening Participation Facilitator (part‑time 30 hours per week)
Department: Blended Education and Training Department, Careers and Apprenticeship Team

Base location: Cross‑site working between Bournemouth and Poole Hospitals
The role is to facilitate inclusive, accessible and responsive pastoral support for employees across the Trust.
Candidate Profile
* Senior Healthcare or Therapy Support Worker
* Skilled educator with insight into healthcare
The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator, able to work in a range of learning environments including classroom and clinical settings. Creativity, innovation and the ability to problem‑solve and engage under‑represented groups, school leavers and those in long‑term unemployment are essential.
Main Duties
* Design, coordinate and deliver education programmes:
o Healthcare Support Worker Induction
o Higher Development Award
o Care Certificate competency assessments
* Organise and deliver widening participation and vocational activities:
o Career Development Drop‑ins
o Personal statement and interview skills workshops
o Career progression workshops
o Community outreach
o Introduction to Healthcare for school leavers
o Support Worker Conference
o Moving and Handling Level 2
o Functional Skills Maths and English Level 2
o T‑Level placements
* Provide one‑to‑one pastoral support and individualised feedback to learners.
* Conduct regular clinical and non‑clinical assessments to enable timely completion of training.
* Facilitate fair access to career progression and widening participation opportunities.
* Support Band 2‑4 and the Career Development Educator with delivery of education programmes.
* Report to the Senior Educator, facilitate literacy and numeracy education, including Functional Skills Maths and English at Level 2.
* Deliver Moving and Handling Level 2 training to local and national governance standards.
* Escalate concerns observed in practice or education activities to senior staff.
* Provide career development and role progression advice aligned with the Trust’s Widening Participation and Career Development Strategy.
* Support outreach initiatives such as The Princes Trust, T‑Levels, NHS Cadets, Kickstart Scheme, etc.
* Promote nurturing, inclusive, and accessible learning environments with a focus on learning differences and equal opportunities.

* NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant field

* Teaching Qualification

* Experience of working in healthcare
* Experience of working with learners of various backgrounds
* Experience of teaching learners

* Experience of working in an acute hospital setting
* Experience of teaching small groups

Skills and Knowledge

* Competent in Microsoft Office 365
* Competent in following nursing plans and undertaking routine care skills including patient observations
* Skilled at giving feedback
* Evidence of organising programmes and events
* Knowledge of Care Certificate Standards
* Knowledge of the widening participation agenda
* Knowledge of career pathways
Desirable
* Ability to assess the work of others and implement development plans where necessary
* Experience with writing lesson plans/curriculum

Salary
£28,392 to £31,157 per year pro‑rata if part‑time.
