Role Description
This is a contract, on-site role located in Newmarket for a Medical Secretary. The successful candidate for this role will be primarily responsible for co-ordinating care of patients referred by Private Health Insurers, but will also engage in general reception activities for the clinic. Day to day tasks include coding and billing via Healthcode using ICD-10 (diagnoses) and CCSD/OPCS (procedures) codes, greeting patients, managing appointment scheduling, handling inbound and outbound phone calls, maintaining medical office records, and ensuring the waiting area operates smoothly. The individual will also assist with communication between patients and healthcare providers, insurance companies, provide information about services, and ensure a positive patient experience.
The contract is initially for a sub-contractor for 4 hours per week on a Friday morning, based on-site in Newmarket; but could translate into a substantive post for the right person.
Qualifications (Essential - please only register your interest if all apply)
* Previous experience in a healthcare setting using ICD-10 (diagnoses) and CCSD/OPCS (procedures) codes.
* Experience dealing with Private Health Insurance Patients/Companies
* Experience in appointment scheduling and managing calendars.
* Proficiency in phone etiquette and strong interpersonal communication skills.
* Understanding of receptionist duties and a patient-centered approach.
* Knowledge of medical terminology and familiarity with medical office procedures.
* Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail with the discipline for autonomous working.
* Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment.
* Understanding of Data Protection, GDPR and overarching CQC regulations.
