International Sponsorship – this role is not open to international sponsorship
Are you a skilled vehicle and plant technician? Are you interested in occasional work as a Casual Vehicle Inspector?
The primary purpose of this job role is to check and inspect a wide range of passenger vehicles, including taxis and buses that operate on Lancashire County Council contracts. Most vehicle inspections are undertaken during school term time, as most of the work relates to home to school transport.
Vehicle inspections are undertaken as required at locations across Lancashire. As this is a casual arrangement, Vehicle Inspectors are not obliged to attend any specific vehicle checks. Schedules of work are drawn up in advance and inspections are then allocated by discussion to suit the circumstances of both the individual Vehicle Inspector and Lancashire County Council at any specific time.
We are especially keen to talk to people with 5 to 10 years experience in vehicle repair and maintenance or in a field specifically related to bus, taxi or HGV vehicle inspections.
In return, Lancashire County Council offers a range of benefits which can be found on the LCC vacancies website.
We reserve the right to close down a vacancy early before the closing date if we receive sufficient applications.
The post you are applying for is covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (as amended in 2013). If successful you will be required to apply to the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) for a 'disclosure'. Further information can be found on the 'Our Recruitment Process' tab.
You will be required to provide a car for use in connection with the duties of this post and must be insured for business use. However we may consider you if you cannot drive because of a disability.
