About The Role
The role will provide direction, support and guidance to our project teams on all aspects of hands‑on environmental management, meeting legal and company standards and helping deliver a culture of continual improvement. It will support site‑based project design, construction controls and mitigations, sustainability opportunities, and deliver against client‑led contractual requirements and BBPTD tactical aspects to achieve our strategic goals. A key part of the role will be engagement with clients, stakeholders, subcontractors, and environmental authorities.
Responsibilities
* Completion, review and update of company environmental documentation, sustainability delivery and environmental risks and opportunities.
* Producing and maintaining permitting and licensing requirements for specific projects.
* Support with awards submission entries.
* Fully interpret policy, regulation and legislation across the portfolio.
* Providing visible ES support across the portfolio.
* Supporting one or more high‑level/value/complex projects through feasibility to post‑construction with support from the E&S Team.
* Supporting one or more standalone projects through feasibility to post‑construction.
* Ensuring and reporting on environmental compliance.
* Regular site inspections, including those with client or regulatory representatives.
* Identifying and promoting innovative solutions.
* Advising and guiding all levels within the project portfolio.
* Ensuring ES information such as KPIs is cascaded to the supply chain.
* Supporting work‑winning advice on ES issues, e.g., planning, permitting and licensing requirements.
Qualifications
* Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel.
* Professional membership level of a relevant professional body (IEMA, CIEEM, CIWEM) or equivalent experience and competence.
* Good knowledge of environmental management with relevant experience.
* Experience working in a construction environment.
* Practical experience and sound knowledge of environmental statutory requirements, including legislation, ecology mitigation, licensing and consent applications and regulation.
* Overseeing, developing and directing Graduate ES roles across the portfolio.
* Understanding the benefits of collaborative work to achieve the best outcomes.
* Strong interpersonal, communication and influencing skills.
* Determination to see tasks through to completion, with excellent planning and organisational skills.
* Interpreting and managing data via databases, consistent record‑keeping and detailed reporting.
* Willingness to visit worksites and offices across Scotland and attend occasional ES meetings across the UK.
