Overview
We’re seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious Driver Supervisor to lead a team of specialist HGV Class 2 Drivers responsible for delivering hazardous goods to customers across the UK. This is a hands-on leadership position, where you’ll combine operational oversight with frontline expertise, ensuring every delivery meets the highest standards of safety, accuracy, and efficiency.
As part of this role, you’ll coach and mentor a skilled team, manage day-to-day logistics, and step in to operate bulk trucks as needed. This is an exciting opportunity to take the next step in your career.
This role is office based in Alfreton, and will require travel to sites around Midlands, Leicester, Derbyshire and North Wales.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and organise daily operations of a small specialist transport team, ensuring seamless, high-quality service delivery.
* Maintain strict compliance with all health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
* Oversee vehicle, equipment, and operational resource allocation to ensure maximum efficiency.
* Provide training, coaching, and mentoring to develop team skills and maintain high performance standards.
* Support external inspections and maintain audit-ready compliance at all times.
* Step in to operate hazardous goods vehicles when required due to demand or absence.
* Report operational performance, challenges, and improvement opportunities to senior management.
* Ensure company policies and safety procedures are followed by all team members.
What We’re Looking For
* Previous experience as a Supervisor/Team Leader in a HGV Driving capacity. This role will be leading a team of 15-20 Drivers.
* Strong organisational, communication, and leadership skills.
* Confident with Microsoft Office and reporting tools.
* Flexible, proactive, and able to adapt to operational demands.
