This is an exciting opportunity to join the NDP ADHD team as a band 6 on a structured programme to become an ADHD specialist nurse prescriber (dependent on successful completion of non-medical prescribing course).
All applicants are expected to undertake a non-medical prescribing course which forms a key part of this role. You will be provided with training, supervision and support throughout the process with clear achievement objectives outlined and regular progression meetings throughout concluding with a final progression meeting with service clinical manager. On successful completion, this will lead to opportunities to become a Band 7 ADHD specialist nurse prescriber.
We are expanding our established nursing team within our friendly and forward-thinking Neurodevelopmental Pathway, which includes Autism (ASD) assessment and ADHD services.
We are looking to recruit enthusiastic and committed nurses to work closely with our Autism and ADHD teams to participate in safe and effective assessments for children, young people, and their families.
You will be expected to liaise with the wider system across health, education, and social care to support families of children with suspected ASD & ADHD.
Good IT skills are required to make effective use of virtual and mobile working technology and IT systems.
Main duties include:
* Develop, implement, and monitor services with the neurodevelopmental pathway team.
* Work collaboratively with Consultant Paediatricians and other health professionals.
* Conduct preliminary assessments of new referrals using agreed assessment tools, including observations in schools, clinics, and homes.
* Implement a family-centred care approach, capturing the child's voice and promoting involvement in decision-making.
* Provide comprehensive assessments based on data from various sources, including psychological assessments and interviews.
* Be the first point of contact for queries, offering advice and signposting to outside agencies.
* Work with families and liaise with external services like CAMHS, Social Care, and Education for holistic care.
* Design and deliver parent education programmes using various training approaches.
* Undertake risk assessments and manage ongoing care for children with ADHD.
* Maintain clinical records per NMC guidelines and trust policies.
Person specifications include qualifications such as Registered Nurse Level 1 or equivalent, evidence of recent CPD, and Advanced Nurse Prescriber status. Extensive experience in children’s services and knowledge of ADHD management are essential. Skills in applying NMC standards, legislative awareness, effective communication, and team working are required.
Car owner/driver is preferred. The role is subject to DBS checks and compliance with UK visa and immigration regulations.
